How you compare and contrast the thought of beauty with Plato and diotima?
As far as I can remember, Socrates is prone to thoughts about youths with beautiful bodies, for Diotima beauty is a schematic process (progress), a growth in aesthetic taste that culminates in the discovery of the final secrets of beauty. By this I'm supposing she means the 'form' of beauty.
Is it possible to ask about prefences in beauty without?
getting mini lectures about ';beauty being in the eye of the beholder'; and ';how everyone is beautiful in their own way?'; Or is the need to show of your ';enlightened'; self just too much to resist? Who are the people that spit out those lectures trying to impress? Is it possible to ask about prefences in beauty without?
Yes, it's a bit silly considering this is a beauty %26amp; style forum! Is it possible to ask about prefences in beauty without?
Maybe well intentioned people are trying to be kind. They are possibly trying to boost the self-esteem of someone insecure enough to question their appearence. Furthermore, some people come off as incredibly shallow with their beauty queries and it's entirely possible that we lecture for the same reason your mother would: to keep you from makeing an #ss out of yourself in person.

How do you interpret the ending of ';American Beauty'; *Contains SPOILERS*?

In the end of American Beauty, why do you suppose the neighbor kills Lester? Also why does his wife Kathryn come home and start weeping? I thought a few hours ago she was planning to kill Lester herself so that she can resume her relationship with Buddy Kane. Shouldn't she be happy because someone did the murdering for her?How do you interpret the ending of ';American Beauty'; *Contains SPOILERS*?
The neighbor was so internally conflicted because he was so deep in the closet yet at the same time totally anti-gay that he couldn't bear the thought of someone knowing his secret. That coupled with the anger about being rejected enraged him enough to kill Spacey's character.
To answer your followup question I personally think she only thought about killing him (Never any planned out intent) and only bought the gun to further satisfy these fantasies perhaps climaxing with her drawing the gun on him without ever intending to fire. Or another scenario could be that she did have every intention of doing it but as the viewer you see that it is something she would have more than likely backed out of at the last minute. I guess you could compare it to how some suicidal people plan out their death and are determined to follow through, but once it comes down to go-time they change their minds because they realize what they are about to do is no longer fantasy, but reality.juice beauty

Does society in large still praise the attractive thin woman vs. a heavier woman with beauty?
I personally prefer a thicker woman, not obese but thick or full figured if you will.Does society in large still praise the attractive thin woman vs. a heavier woman with beauty?
Yes. Just look at the fashion magazines. For a larger sized woman to be admired, she has to be considered EXCEPTIONALLY beautiful. Someone like Emme or Jennifer Hudson or EXCEPTIONALLY talented like Queen Latifah.
and thank you for noticing the difference between thick and truly obese. Some people just don't get it.
Yes, I'm big, but am ';fit'; because I do work out and eat right...and I really don't appreciate being lumped in with people who are out of shape, dumpy, lumpy, morbidly obese at 500 lbs or more by people who think that everyone MUST be 100 lbs in order to deserve love and happiness in life. It's just as bad as those who think all thin women are anorexicDoes society in large still praise the attractive thin woman vs. a heavier woman with beauty?
i think our society is so backwards! Report Abuse
Which society? In many parts of Western society, yes - although obviously it's a trend and there are many individual differences (many people individually will prefer larger women. Society as a whole tends towards prefering thinner women). However, this isn't the same for all societies (especially not societies where food is scarcer, which are more likely to find heavier women attractive)
Well I think so. But studies show that throughout history small waist were one of the most complimented thing in romanic poetry more so even then breast. But scientist believe that its not actually the size but the waist to hip ratio. Studies show that women with smaller waist tend to be more fertile then throws who are more square shaped. So mens desire for women with hips and women's desire to have a smaller waist may just be primal instincts.
Edit: Here's an article about it : (news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/644 (add this yahoowouldn''t let me put all of it) 4851.stm)
I definetly think so. I think it's awful that we live in a society where a size 10 is considered plus size. I think what matters is a person being happy with how they look and healthy. Clothes are made for smaller people, and while I'm on the subject, can anyone tell me why clothes for bigger people are floral and wild designs that aren't flattering?
Thin isn't the word. Society still praises the anorexic woman. Anorexic women are everywhere. But individuals like what they like. Society's opinion is f*%26amp;#$%d up, and they also praise drug addicts and alcoholics. Can't listen to them.
Because thinness (as they define it) is harder to achieve, so it gives you more opportunities to sell people things they don't need?
Always. Heroin chic is very desirable.
Yes.
Yep.
Yes, they do. It's mostly due to changes in culture.

hope this helps!!!Say that you want to start using asian beauty products.I'm african american by the way.would they work on me ?
they should work on all skin
asians are very pale (east) but they create products for all different skin colors depending on the line
If you were talking hair, then I'd say no.... But there are a lot of asian products out there that are perfect for all skin types. Rice papers, for example, are for people with oily skin (regardless of melanin). If you have oily skin, using rice paper to blot up the excess oil is WAY better for your skin than, say, powdering your nose, lol! It will also reduce acne because when you powder your nose, you are adding more crap (and mixing the oil) to your skin, thus, you are further blocking your pores. With rice paper, you are just removing the oil, not the makeup, so you don't NEED to powder your nose.
All the black girls I know need deep moisturizers that are oil-free. They've all got really dry skin. So, all my girlfriends go for the moisture. Your best bet is trial and error, girl. If you have dry, yet oily (I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but it happens, lol) then you need to focus on moisturizing without adding more of the type of moisture your body already creates...
It really all depends on the kind of makeup. I mean sometimes it could workout for your skin but sometimes it was meant for Asian people. Maybe your right about the melanin on the skin but you might as welll give it a try. =]
where'd you hear that? i think african americans have more melanin cuz their skin is so much darker
and like...i don't think there's anything really good about most asian beauty products, except for this korean stuff called skinfood, which is (according to my friend) really really good for your skin and smells amazing and all (just not the mushroom kind). here's the english website http://eng.theskinfood.com/eng/00_home/h鈥?/a>
but for makeup, most asians aren't really as concerned with makeup, so i would stick with western products, like french or whatever.

At 11 years old in beauty pageants do they still wear short pageant dresses or floor length?
My daughter is 11 and 5'4'; and wanting to get back into pageants. At this age is it time for floor length or still the shorter fluffy ones? I believe my 8 year old is still in the fluffy ones. Can someone advise? We live in NW Arkansas. Thanks! At 11 years old in beauty pageants do they still wear short pageant dresses or floor length?
Usually by age 8 or so you will see girls grow into long gowns. Make sure that the gown is not too revealing though! At 11 years old in beauty pageants do they still wear short pageant dresses or floor length?
wait
why would they dress up babies like whores in those short little dresses with all of that make up and the big hair and whatnot
but have 11 year olds more conservative?
what the hell?
in my opinion, nobody should be wearing short dresses AT A PAGEANT until they're like 16-18
i agree with rawr
VVVV
Who cares! Everyone dresses like whores anyway.
It's floor length at that age. Usually about 10 it begins.
Floor length.
ugh, good luck with that. All pageants cause is low self-esteem.

I believe you need to be a Dr to be a dermatologist. So, you'd have to go to Med school then become an Intern, a resident then finally an attending. Maybe with your experience you could cut some corners but that would be when you're specializing in Dermatology.
You have to go to medical school to become a dermatologist. Dermatologists are doctors.

What is your favourite bargain beauty product?
I love Boots cucumber moisturiser. It's 拢2. I sometimes buy the fancy stuff for 拢35 with blind faith in it's ability to prevent wrinkles, but nothing ever makes my skin feel better than the Boots cucumber.
Also St Ives Apricot Scrub. Reently picked some of this up as I couldn't afford to replace my Clinique- and I think it might be better.
I'm also a big fan of Collection 2000 eyeshadow.
So please spread the word- what great bargain products have you found? What is your favourite bargain beauty product?
collection 2000 conceler the light reflecting stick pen, just as good as touch e clate for coverage and only 4.99!! bargain!!What is your favourite bargain beauty product?
Are you two related?
Check out eyeslipsface.com. Everything is a $1!
The best ever product that I've found is Boot's ';Perfect and Repair'; serum. Brilliant price, and a brilliant result. Their ';Rewind'; serum has the same active ingredient, but it's more highly concentrated. It's also a bit more expensive. In my opinion, Perfect and Repair works better than anything else on the market at the moment.
i spend a bit more on stuff like cleansers, cos i dont want them to strip my skins with shitty chemicals, but never really more than 15 quid!
17 eyeshadows are UNBEATABLE!! so many colours, they dont crease and last for ages. i think like 2-3 quid!!
superdrug's stuff is all quite good and cheap...miss sporty is amazingly cheap and i love the waterproof mascara!
if you look hard enough you can get practically everything good and cheap atm! x
I also love Collection 2000 stuff. Plain old vaseline and Nivea are also great bargains. Dove soap is great too!
collection 2000 liquid eye liner
Avon make up is great and so cheap and you always get good deals, like 2 for 拢5, or buy one get one free of anything on the page. So you end up getting far more for your money.
mine are all the face masks i think they are a bargain i always get loads of them an after a nice soak in the bath put one on they make your skin feel so soft .you can get them from boots an super drugs .

Do you think those child beauty contests are disgusting?
They give those little girls big hair, they wear makeup, false teeth. I think it is disgusting with all they're fat mothers screaming and yelling in the audience.Do you think those child beauty contests are disgusting?
The mother probably wishes that it was her up there, getting the attention, looking ';beautiful'; and winning money for being the best. It's sad and really show's how little we've advanced in society.
These contests judge women based on their looks rather than an something that is going to better her. The girls are over sexualized, and being young is going to tarnish them in the future when they realize that they aren't perfect.
The girls win scholarships to schools, but their parents aren't worried about school. Parents should spend HALF of that time working on educating her, so that she can become something great-a doctor, a teacher, a engineer!
I think that it's funny when the judges say they're looking for ';inner beauty'; while the girl is caked with makeup.Do you think those child beauty contests are disgusting?
They are. These children are not ';natural'; a lot of them I've seen are cute but not Stunning. The makeup makes them look trashy.
Really, women wear makeup to play up their features to attract others to them (like a peacock displaying his feathers). For the same reason that my DD doesn't wear a bikini at age 9, bikinis are for getting lots of sun (not healthy) or for looking good for the opposite sex.
The beauty pageant kids never look like they are having fun, they could be spending their money on WAY better things (like college) for the kids, epsecially when they don't really win a huge amount. And it makes the kids bloated in the head, that they are the prettiest.
Personally, I don't agree with it myself. Majority of the parents are just trying to live through their children. It also teaches them exactly what is wrong with society: beauty 1st brain second. They can rob their children of their childhood, along with a lot mental damage. We are headed into the direction with all this crap we are filling our future. Give our kids a chance (dumbing down education, beauty contest, environment, sell our future away, or whatever grinds you most)
Well the style can be tacky and I think the parenting involved is generally questionable but I don't think the contests or perhaps the idea of them are all bad. The few pageant junkies I've known have all been pretty out-going and friendly so I can only ascertain that there is perhaps some good coming from that sort of thing.
Yes! I think it is so wrong at like there age to be wearing Make-Up,Fake hair,Spray on tans,Etc Also when they are older they are going to think it is all about the looks and stuff which it is not! And they are WAY to wrong it makes me sick! Also one mom had 2 little girl and thought the one was prettier! You can't just say that it is so wrong i could go on and on about this but i don't wanna lol :)
yea, i think the parents just want to make sure their kids are beautiful and will never have to go through like what they did. The spray tans, fake teeth, huge hair, $$$ outfits, etc. and the fact that the parents cater to them all the time is just a key for disaster in the years to come and i wouldnt like to be around during the teenage years thats for sure..they will never learn the right way to do anything..and thats seriously how you should look when your 16+..not under 6 years years old..good question.
The kids should be kids...but there's always going to be the other side of reality with those people who like to live a little differently. That will never change. My sister Julie is 3 yrs old and is competing in many pageants...who knows (when she grows up) what she'll really* want to be...I know I personally want to do pageants now, but I'm older and I know what they are all about...my sister...doesn't. It's more my parents dream, not hers. It's all a tad disturbing.
Totally agree, LOSER MOTHERS who don't have a life and want to live vicariously through their children... Pathetic, half the time the poor babies are crying and don't even want to be there. I think it should be illegal to do that to your young child!
I think its ridiculous. why would you want to put so much make up on little child. So sad.Disgusting too. The mothers are horrible. Spoiling the child. Mostly making their child live the mothers dream not the child's...Gosh i hate that show so much..
I think it's awful. These women are turning their daughters into little monster, 20 year olds. I feel bad for the kids because they never have the chance to be a kid, play in the mud, and not care about their appearance.
i agree, i was watching toddlers and tiaras the other day, and was disgusted by how fake it all was. i thought, those kids have the RIGHT to throw tantrums, i would too, if my mother was that much of a *****.
yeah the parents force them its nasty,
AND VERY WEIRD.
I watched ';Little Miss Sunshine'; the little girl in that had more talent in her little finger than those freaks that mental people encourage.
YES!
Yes,
because I think it teaches the participants a warped sense of beauty and whats important.
I could not agree more. The Mothers keep saying ';It is what the child wants'; What a bunch of BS. It is totally disgraceful.
They are gross, but hilarious XD
I like to watch them.

um i dont see how they are disgusting unless if they make the children eat worms or something.
next time you might wanna try to use the right words.
it is disgusting.
until you get that big cash prize.
but yes, very disgusting.
If the child thinks is fun then cool, by all means go for it.
But I agree... when the parents get upset with their child and yell at them if they mess up or something, that's taking it too far!!!
all beauty pagents are disgusting, and the worst product of one is the former miss America
Those girls scare the hell out of me! Pushy stage mothers, creepy grins.. They look like serial killers! Honestly, it's like a pedophiles dream. Parents should think of that!!
its pretty pathetic how the fat moms ';see themselves'; in their kids or something. i mean if the kids are ok with it then thats fine but the kids HATE it!!
i agree, they are making their daughter do what they wished they could have if they weren't do damn ugly when they were a kid.
Yes, absolutely!
Yeh I totally agree. Just pedophilia in disguise.
Yes I totaly agree with you it is disgusting no more to say about it.
Oh my god, I hate those. They shock me. Those poor little kids... I dont even get it. How could parents want that for there children?
Yeah, beauty is skin deep.
WHO'S THAT LOOKING AT ME? ';oh thats the money u could be saving by switching to geico.......(I always feel like somebody's watching me) lmao!
i think its good for them not the false teeth i think it helps them build confidence about them selves and teach them how to dress !!!!!!!

I'm an Auburn red head and I've always wanted green eyes. I think they are beautiful. Green contacts over brown eyes looks terrible I've seen that.
No, does'nt feel like someone else is looking, it is you looking different; it enhances your look.
I think so.
I have green eyes, and when I wear brown contact I feel very ';blah';
No

david bowie did alright with different coloured eyes .
no beauty is who you are....
depends on the person, some ppl lyk the colour of the eyes other ppl dnt worry
I think different coloured eyes is pretty.
No, the eye colour you already have is beautiful enough.
Yes. I think blue eyes with blonde hair would look perfect.
Yea it does.Mine are brown reg but in the sun or light they are a pretty burnt/orange color that I wish they would be permanent.
Never looked at it that way because iv'e always had green eyes. My daughter has damaged one of her eyes by using coloured contacts so they are definately a no no.

What is more important for a boy, a girls outer beauty (appearance) or inner beauty (goodness) ?
Serious ones look ALSO at the inner beauty. But there are 2 important things to remember:
1) you can't be beautiful outside if you're not sparkling from the inside. You have to laugh a lot and be joyful (that always attracts men)
2) Find an elegant style which is not stereotyped or slutty like many today. Appearance is detemined not only by your onw features but also by your clothes. What is more important for a boy, a girls outer beauty (appearance) or inner beauty (goodness) ?
It has to be a mix. Personally, I've accepted that not every girl finds me attractive to look at, some do, and some don't. Based on that, it is true that for every person, there is someone who feels that person is gorgeous, so all you can try to do is be a good person and let fate take the rest. A mix, for sure. What is more important for a boy, a girls outer beauty (appearance) or inner beauty (goodness) ?
eh I disagree with the io. yeah guys are often visually oriented. But the vast majority of us are, like ladies, looking for a partner for long time love -- somebody with whom you are compatible and who you love to be around and who makes you smile.
In conclusion, I think both are important. She doesn't have to be the most gorgeous thing in the world, she just has to be beautiful to me. That is, I'd like to be attracted to my lady. And then the most important part lies the next level deeper, eh?
Well it kind of has to be both.
1. You might find it difficult to attract the attention of a boy if you're not beautiful outside
2. You could never keep a boy you've attracted if you're horrible or boring as sin on the inside
It's a difficult and slightly unfair mix
xxx
Did you know that a group of girls took a natural photo-shoot and then took another photo shoot which had been airbrushed. They asked lots of people which one was better and most men went for natural but loads of women thought that the fake one looked better.
hey...actually evry guy at first is attracted to agirl whose really presentable no matter your a ten on ten babe or not...but later when he gets to know you if he really isa decent chap..the he wont care a damn about good looks just the inner you will matter for sure...
the most important for a boy in todays generation is both the qualities
its inner goodness and also its appearance also because to respect its order and also to look dashing in these modern world
What is outer beauty and inner beauty? You means outer the dress and innder the dress?
Importants are
1.Charecter
2.Education
3;Wealth
unless you want a really weird bible thumping god fearing guy, youre shiiit out of luck because appearance to a guy is everytihg. If you want a weirdo who cares about inner beauty... marry a christian
Well I asked from what I know, If the girl is hot or pretty then yea they will think she's hot and pretty but someone else said the decent ones will care about their personality and io that is the stupidest thing I've heard today.
Both r important caz if a boy ugly then he'll never be attracted by any one or if his appearance is good but his behavior is strange it seem it make people **** TT
im not boy but i like gals wid inner beauty. outer beauty never matter much it fades with time..boys r stuoid if thy choose outer beauty.
inner beauty matters much...as outer beauty fades away with time........sooo inner beauty is real one.
decent bo褔s dont care about the looks so much, the褔 care about whats inside. but other bo褔s just care more about what 褔ou look like rather than 褔ou personalit褔.
outer beauty no competition x
outer
Descent one want a mix of both....Shallow ones just go for outer..

Are you a freak if you can find beauty in dark places?
I feel like such a freak. I can find the beauty in things like pain and sorrow, is there something wrong with me? Do I need therapy? Are you a freak if you can find beauty in dark places?
Nope that means you are normal.
People who are not normal only find beauty in the obvious because they are so idiotic. There are a lot of those types and it seems like their numbers are increasing. Are you a freak if you can find beauty in dark places?
I have a problem with the word 'freak' that you use.
It is problematic in its definitions because 'Freak' is incredibly subjective and open to a wide range of use, misunderstanding, miss-use and thus abuse.
There is nothing wrong or 'negative' in seeing beauty in what you describe ~ in sorrow or pains or in say, melancholia. It matters by the degrees in which you can or cannot see beauty ~ by the balance in these things and in your perception of them.
Some people are ~ 'in touch' with a much broader spectrum of human emotion than the majority of us ...feeling and responding to what others may fail to notice ~ or to the depth of such feeling.
Apparently, in Jewish mythology there are a group of angels named The Lamed Vov (my spelling may be some way off there!) whose job it is to take on the 'Woes and the miseries of mankind' ....because the story goes, 'Mankind cannot do it for itself'. If it were allowed to see / sense these for what they truly are, mankind would simply collapse under the sheer weight of it all.
Some people (men and women) find a ''pain pleasure'' in having their backside ''whacked'', and there is a pleasure in that pain ...hard to define, but enough people seem to continue searching for it to make it notable.
So, like yourself, don't let it worry you ...unless you find yourself unable to find beauty and pleasure in the regular world (so to speak)
Take care ~ and use what you see.
Sash.
I find death, pain, sorrow, blood you name it beautiful. its a magnet to me. I love it. there isn't anything wrong with finding beauty in dark things like that. it just means you are very emotional and sensitive. (No, I didn't call you emo. I'm very emotional and I'm not emo.) What most people find dark, evil, terrible, and sad, we find interesting and true beauty in life. the life cycle is a very amusing thing to me. you're not a freak. You're just optimistic. you enjoy both sides of life. hope I helped you.
Ta ta,
C.R.
no your not a freak, your very optimistic. . .have you ever read the diary of anne frank?? Anne is in the middle of world war II but yet she she's the happiness in it! i'm like this to, so if you need therapy so do i lol. . . .your just optimistic not a freak
Human beings have always found beauty in the shadows cast by Life and Death. It's the poignancy that attracts us...
You might be Russian.
I don't think so. That actually must make you a very good poet. ;)

What is beauty serum? What's it supposed to do vs facial lotion?
I'm currently using the loreal genesis, and I do like it. Am I supposed to use it morning, night or both? And then the usual facial lotion afterwards? Wash, tone, serun, undereye, lotion...I spend entirely too much time on skin care!
Also, what does this stuff do that the facial lotion doesn't?What is beauty serum? What's it supposed to do vs facial lotion?
If you use any products over the counter, like this one, they only treat dead skin, and will not achieve a result or reverse a skin condition.
To apply products, always start from the lightest to the heaviest, serums first, then lotions, sunblock makeup. If you use any products have the same consistency, pick the one that ';does the most ';(like Vitamin C) first.
Depending on your age, you fit into different categories in skin care.
In your twenties and below, its all about prevention. Good moisturizers, eye cream and sunblock, nothing fancy or too expensive.
30s everything the 20's are doing, but you need to get higher quality products, not from a mall, tray a day spa, med spa and dermatologist. At this point, you need to get an antioxidant. If you did damage in youth, see below.
40's, Now you have to get aggressive. The skin needs more and more help going through exfoliation, because this natural process slows as we age. The damage is done, and it is time to reverse it!

Why is beauty in the eye of the beer holder?
Why does alcohol make a person seem more attractive and the next day not so much? Why is beauty in the eye of the beer holder?
beer goggles...
you lower your standards plus the fact you can't see straight...
Why is beauty in the eye of the beer holder?
Because alcohol impairs our senses and makes us very ';loose of mind';. We're more open to new experiences and are much more lenient when it comes to standards. When we wake up the next morning and have our senses intact, we remember that we lowered our standards the night before and vow never to drink again. Coyote Ugly...
Beer Goggles. You lose your inhibitions and what you'd normally consider a sow's ear seems more like a silk purse. Either way, it will FEEL like a silk purse. Then you wake up and oops, sow's ear. Time to call a cab.
Alcohol numbs the senses. She looks better....
smells better....
you get my message. :-)
Cause when you get sharty, you get the '; I don't turn down ****, but my collar'; mentality lol
because when you drink you are very care free. you become yourself, without all of the judgmental characteristics you may have! lmao
whatever job well done right? :)
I really don't know. It happens to me quite alot. I do a lot of stupid things with drink on me.

Why is beauty more important for women than looks are for a guy?
Want some more opinions since I posted this late.
Why does it seem beauty is more important for women than being handsome is for guys? Hiow come guys are not all concerned all the time how they look?
If you look at the Beauty section of Yahoo Answers, its mostly girls
So clearly there has to be a reason
How come it doesn't seem as if guys are not asking if they should dye their hair and what not??Why is beauty more important for women than looks are for a guy?
because most don't guys don't care and shouldn't really care if they look all prettied up. they only question a guy would ask here is ';what haircut should i get?'; 'cause the rest of these questions are about makeup, outfits, lotions, and perfumes, and i doubt many guys care about that.
but then again there's nothing wrong with being metrosexual. Why is beauty more important for women than looks are for a guy?
im a guy and i care about how i look. honestly girls just go overboard sometimes with thier appearance/looks and make guys seem like they dont put time in looking good when we actually do.

Where do you live? In Georgia we have the HOPE scholarship. If you keep good grades, and do not drop any classes, they will pay your tuition and $100 on books every semester. Talk to the financial adviser at the school you are planning to attend. They will have better information that will help you in your education goals.

Do I need some kind of membership or cosmetic license to buy stuff at sally beauty supply?
So I drive past Sally Beauty Supply all the time and I've always wanted to go in. And I almost did, once, but my friend told me that I need a membership to get in and an actual beautician's license to purchase anything. is that true? Or can anybody buy stuff from there?Do I need some kind of membership or cosmetic license to buy stuff at sally beauty supply?
No. Your friend is a liar. Next time, tell her that her nose will grow the next time she lies to you. :) I go in there all the time. You don't have to get some sacred identification to buy something. There is a membership card you can get though. The card will sometimes allow you to get stuff for cheaper.Do I need some kind of membership or cosmetic license to buy stuff at sally beauty supply?
I have one that cost $5 and it just gives me a discount when I buy over the limit which is 20 bucks.I don't work in salon nor a professional hair stylist but I love there products and saves me money and if you go alot than get it but you get bigger discount if you in the business.
No. The only places that require a license is license only beauty Supplys, Sallys sells generic brands, not professional.
If it was a license only store, Then it would have 'License only' on the door or window.
No you don't. They discount cards for when you buy things but other than that you're free to go into the store and shop without a membership or anything like that.
Not at all; just being licensed gives you a discount on certain products and when you spend certain amounts.
no. my mom buys stuff from there all the time.
naa ive never heard that before

How is beauty measured all over the world?
Im wondering, what is the beauty standard in every country. Beauty now is boxed, like in womens case it should be tall, slim, long hair and beautiful skin? How is beauty measured all over the world?
The only thing that is consistent around the world are signs of health. Symmetrical faces, clear skin, and an ability to move and show vigor are things that have pretty much always been valued in terms of sexual preference, which is the beauty I think you are referring to.How is beauty measured all over the world?
A thoughtful question!
I closed my eyes and I imagined myself in a dark place . Did I see anything ? No. Beautiful things were there around and yet I did not see anything beautiful. Thus I felt beauty is certainly what the eyes see. A blind might touch the objects and yet might not see anything beautiful in the object . The measurement of beauty should also be ( then ) eye related. But then the world over people have eyes and yet relate to different forms of beauty differently .
I conclude that the measurement of beauty is in its uniqueness, sparse , grandeur and its majesties. It is not just women . It is men , flowers , nature .... anything

How can beauty be in a SMILE? why is a smile so important?
well i have those braces on and there's SPACE between my 2 upper teeth so i hate to smile in pictures or even when i'm around people lol .. well is it true that your beauty is in your smile like you have to smile to be beautiful? How can beauty be in a SMILE? why is a smile so important?
its the smile..not the teeth
a smile is what makes someone beautiful because it shows the happiness of a person.
you can still have a nice smile and have braces and spaces :]How can beauty be in a SMILE? why is a smile so important?
i have braces too and i never smile with my mouth open in pictures, i had the same space for a while. and yes beauty is often in a smile but not only there. smiles are important, they show you're not so serious and you know how to be happy but beauty can be in your eyes or your voice or anywhere. it's all in an opinion.
I think a smile brightens the face.
Also, it depends on the person. For me, I loove guys with nice teeth. But that's just me.
Truth is happiness is beautiful and so is confidence. Smile!

What to continue Beauty Parlor or Computer?
I am 12th passed women, good experience in beauty parlor (I had my own beauty parlor in my native place) now I got married came to Mumbai, I have 3 陆 months baby, my husband is in Computer field, I am thinking to do Ms-cit, at presently handling beauty parlor business from home, but its going slowly please tell me which will be best option for me?What to continue Beauty Parlor or Computer?
You are natural when it comes to beauty parlors. But I would say choose 'Computer study'. You may not like the working atmosphere. But for the sake of knowledge and a good degree, it helps. Then go for 'beauty parlor'.
I personally am in to technical and professional things and I have wasted every year since my 12th on fashion and film courses and didn't make a thing. I miss science now.juice beauty

What kind of beauty product can remove and cover pimple scars?
or any other scars in the body that can also be used in the face? can i buy it here in the philippines? thank you! :)What kind of beauty product can remove and cover pimple scars?
idk about you, but when my girlfriend wants to remove scars, i use the tip of a snow shovel. i always make sure its an old one, so that way the edges aren't as smooth anymore and are ridged, to provide a more effective cut :)What kind of beauty product can remove and cover pimple scars?
1. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Don't scrub, wash. Scrubbing will do no good. Use skin toner if you have oily skin, and after you've done that, apply some moisturizer. If you still have some pimples, sanitize them with alchohol and then apply some tea tree oil to help heal the acne.
2. Create a nice base. Apply some tinted moisturizer in a color that matches your skintone. Blend into neck and hairline and make sure it matches your neck and face color. This is really sheer and gives a nice base, and you can't go wrong or have your face look cakey like foundation or concealer can. No dried in concealer for you! MAC and Clinique make some really nice ones, and they last a long time.
3. Conceal, Set and Forget Using either loose powder or pressed powder, use a large powder brush and swirl in some powder. This will set your tinted moisturizer and will work as a very nice concealing powder. Physicians Formula Loose Mineral Powder and MAC Studio Fix are great options. The Physicians Formula one also comes with a brush that works like a concealer brush.
Other option: Try using tinted moisturizer and liquid foundation. They are the big thing now for they cleverly conceal scars from old blemishes well and the result-sheer and very natural looking. You don鈥檛 need a brush too to apply it. No fuss at all.

Can you think of arguments for and against child beauty pageants?
Please can you give some arguments for both sides please. Can you think of arguments for and against child beauty pageants?
child beauty pageants are great because they build confidence and meet new people. lets say a girl is shy in school. she doesnt quite fit in. maybie she doesnt feel confident. in pageant she could show everyone she isnt just ';that quiet girl';
the bad thing is sometimes people start making it the most important thing, to win. some girl may win and suddenly thinks that she is better then everyone. while it builds confidence it also builds ego. also it makes the other girls who didnt win feel they arent good enough.
those are the pros and cons. hope i helped

What can attract you to a person other than beauty alone?
Can only a good personality draw you in?What can attract you to a person other than beauty alone?
personality and the way the carry their self like if they can dress or what notWhat can attract you to a person other than beauty alone?
Physical beauty is what initially draws a person in, then it is the initial qualities/ambitions that may or may not keep a person. Age is also a factor, of course. No, Only a good personality can't draw you in, and as people may misinterpret this, beauty is NOT defined by society, but by ones own personal life experiences. People are attracted to one another, however, ';beauty'; has been defined, and you other people accept that as beauty, even though you may be attracted to someone whom society thinks is not. :D
From my personal experience I have learned that it is not always looks that draw a person in, for example I have seen that for some part(for girls that I have met that are extremely attractive) they seem to be self centered and materialistic and that for me kinda kills the whole thing ie I cant see my self in a relationship with them however for the most part average looking girls with a good personality all of a sudden become far more attractive that the hot chick with a bad attitude.
There are different levels of attraction.
You can't see someone's intellect or personality from across the bar, street, or room. Now what initially attracts you to someone may not be as important as the deeper levels of attraction such as intelligence, compassion, personality, self esteem, etc.

personality is everything..of course attraction is important..but if you can't carry a convorsation or even be interesting to the other sex, then what is the relationship based on and where will it even go? Nowhere. So personality is extremely important.
I chose someone who I trusted to let me be me, no matter what changes or sudden turns of direction I might take in life. He isn't handsome at all, although I don't let him know that.
He has never tried to change me. Or order me around. Or expect me to obey him. What a blessing.

What are some cool facts about girls health and beauty?
Well I'm talking about stuff like highlighting your hair with lemon and putting toothpaste on a zit overnight. What are some cool facts about girls health and beauty?
Well, as girls its natural for us to feel pretty. Since there are alot of beauty tip questions I decided to put up some good tips. Enjoy!! :)
* put lotion on your hands and feet at night and wear gloves n socks to sleep. wake up wih super soft hands and feet!
* lightly brush your lips with a toothbrush and put vaseline for soft lips.
* for shiny hair, wash off your shampoo/conditioner with cold water
* use tooth paste on any zits to make the swelling go down and make it less red
* instead of purchasing expensive facial scrubs, use a small handful of regular white sugar. just lather up your face with a cleanser, then scrub in the sugar using your finger tips in small circular motions
* to soften your skin and minimize pores, apply beaten egg yolk to your face and let dry for 10 minutes, then rinse
* if you don't have electronic eyelash curler, heat your normal curler under a hairdryer before using it. it works much better.
* if you have dry cuticles, rub them with lip balm
* a great way to make your perfume last is by spraying it into your hands and rubbing it on your hair. your hair doesn鈥檛 sweat so the scent will last all day
* to get rid of annoying eyebags, put a metal spoon into ice cold water and press it gently against your eyes.
* for bigger eyes, apply darker eyeliner on the outer corner of your eyes and brighter eyeliner on the innercorner of your eyes
* To make lips bigger put clear lip gloss in the middle of ur lips.
* to make beautiful temporary curls, wash your hair at night and braid them while it's wet. then go sleep. you will see the result the next morning when u untie your braids!
* Rub a dry body brush in circular motions on your stomach and legs everyday before you shower. This increases the circulation in you body and helps reduce the appearance of cellulite.
* roll the mascara brush as your putin it on, it avoids clumps
* Soak cloth with hot water (the hottest that you can stand. Be careful though) then put over face for 10 minutes. Then quickly put a cleanser over your face. (Clean %26amp; Clear and Noxzema foaming wash are good cleansers) Leave on for 3-4 minutes then wash with ice cold water. This will open your pores, clean them, and then close them. You'll see results within a week.
* If you have green eyes, wear purple shadow because it brings the color out
If you have blue eyes wear brown because it brings the color out
If you have blue/green eyes , wear a mix of both.
* After applying lipstick, stick your thumb in your mouth, and then slowly pull it out. This removes any lipstick from the inside rim of your lips so you don't get lipstick on your teeth.
* To minimize the appearance of a pimple, hold ice on it for two minutes. It brings the swelling and redness down.
* before bed add a tiny bit of honey and some water in the palm of your hand and spread it across your face, avoiding the T zone. smooth and soft face int he morning
* Dont bite the skin around your nails, this causes your nails to look bigger
* If you have big lips, use muted colours such as purples, browns and bronzes.
If you have small lips, avoid dark colours.
* no matter how dry your lips is. don't lick it! trust me it'll just make it worse!
* after you have done all your makeup, take some shimmery white eyeshadow and put a tiny bit on the inner corners or your eyes. It really makes them POP!
* Everynight an hour before you go to bed, drink 3/4 of a pint of water mixed with 1/4 of a pint of lemon juice. Once you are done, drink a glass of ice water, then go pee. This will help clear your complexion.
* for an overall glow n radiance to your face, mix honey and milk until it's creamy. wash your face with hot water to open pores. apply the mixture avoiding the T area of your face. wait for 30 minutes and wash off with cold water.
* To remove blackheads, steam for 5 mins and exfoliate immediately.
* Rub vaseline on your eyelashes every night. Smear it in between every single lash and all around your lash line. If you do this every day, it will eventually make your lashes grow in faster and softer.
* Blowing on your nail polish to dry them decreases shine and dulls them. Instead, soak your nails in ice water after your done and if you must, use your blowdryer on low, cool setting just to blow off the water. Now don't touch anything!
* Pour a tablespoonful of honey into a small bowl. Add two teaspoons of sugar and mix well. Now scoop up all of the mixture with your fingers and massage well into your hands for a few minutes. Sounds yucky but feels great! Rinse and apply hand lotion. Soft! What are some cool facts about girls health and beauty?

What would be the price-or charge at the beauty salon to have your hair braided into corn rows?
I have long hair .Does this matter? When should you take them out? What would be the price-or charge at the beauty salon to have your hair braided into corn rows?
If it's your own hair about $25-$30 bucks, but if you add hair add about $20 to the price. I was charge $35 for straight to the back cornrows here in Detroit (cheap price) including hair but the braider did it at home Shop visits cost more of course. Wear Cornrows (well treated) for about 2-3 weeks, wash and deep condition afterwards. What would be the price-or charge at the beauty salon to have your hair braided into corn rows?
depend on the salon places where i asked about ranged from 20-40 dollars also depends on how far back and how many. my friends sister did it for me and charged me 5 bucks so i saved about 35 dollars! lol
Depending on where you go, probably about 40 bucks. The length of your hair shouldn't matter. They usually charge you based on your age. If your a child, you would be charged the child rate. If not, then they usually have a set adult rate for corn rows.
I would recommend taking the corn rows down after about a week or two. You hair would need a good washing by then anyways. Plus the cornrows would be ratty looking by then.
Hope that helps!juice beauty

Beside using a hair iron and going to a beauty parlor how can I straighten my hair?
I heard you can use gel or something.....if you can use gel can you explain step by step how to do it? And any other possible ways.
Thanks =DBeside using a hair iron and going to a beauty parlor how can I straighten my hair?
that guy is an idiot
there is a magic hair straightener
and it is called a reverse perm.
it is just like a perm but instead of using curlers and curling your hair, they make is straight.
you can buy DIY kits from priceline for about $50
or i bought one from swartscoff for $20
it last for a long time and the only time you have to redo it is when your hair grows (just like hair colour)
do not use this if you have bleached hair, it will make your hair fall out.Beside using a hair iron and going to a beauty parlor how can I straighten my hair?
it depends
how curly is your hair
if its just a little curly, simply dry with hair dryer and pull straight
or you could put a little gel in it and once the gel dries, kind of comb through it, should make it a little straighter
theres no amzing hair straightening formula
but iron is probably your best bet if you have really curly hair
You can comb it.

In Renaissance art, what are some characteristics of male beauty?
In other words, if a Renaissance artist was painting a male and wanted to make him as attractive as possible according to the standards of that time and that style of art, what would he do? I know symmetry is one characteristic but I can't find any others and I need this information for a research paper...
Thanks! In Renaissance art, what are some characteristics of male beauty?
searching past questions I found much info - which you can do also.
Briefly, they used mass solidarity and mathematical perspective.
Later they went for decorator effect using bright colors and
elaborate costumes.

How much money does a person make on average in the hair and beauty industry?
depends on your clientelle -- I would say the $30,000 is a good starting point (once you have been working in a salon for about 3 years) then the more people want to come to you -- the more you make.
Also depends on location

I am visiting France and wanna see architecture and some scenic beauty. Which place is good for scenic beauty?
I think Paris should cover the ancient architecture part. But I was wondering which part of France close to Paris is good for Scenic beauty? any suggestions?I am visiting France and wanna see architecture and some scenic beauty. Which place is good for scenic beauty?
If you choose Paris for the architectural point of view, I'd reccommend Normandy for the scenic beauty. Honfleur, Deauville and Trouville for example, are beautiful little towns. and Normandy is easy to get to from Paris.
Another possibility is the Loire valley, rich in scenic beauty and most of the most magnificent ch芒teaux of France are located along this valley.
The following website will give you a list of most of the castles worth seeing all over France.... Just take your pick!
And as to scenic beauty, there is hardly a corner of France that is not worth seeing!!!

What do you think about child beauty pagents?
Do you think they are great or just horrible? What do you think about child beauty pagents?
I think they are great. Beauty pageants teach you poise, beauty, and confidence. I myself was in beauty pageants; they are just great for little girls! :)What do you think about child beauty pagents?
theyd be okay if the parents weren't showbiz moms/dads and didn't make their kids feel like they had to win the gain their parents respect
UUMM OK IF THEY KID WANTS TO DO IT BUT NOT IF THE MOM IS MAKING THEM IT'S COOL IF IT'S FUN
exploitation. You wonder how girls seem to be growing up so fast????????
It a competition based on someones ability to be beautiful. Sure they also judge you on your lying ability and mediokre talents but the main concept is beauty. To be judged on something you can't control is ludacris and it makes mothers pyscho for some reason.
terrible and disgusting!
the last place on earth to be
i mean c`mon do you really like that crap
its terible i was in backstage for a dance thingy becuase my cousin and i was horified the lady siad LET ME CHECK YOURE MAKE-UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPP
it was a mini bring it on with out all the teen crap and a good version
saaaaaaaaaad
Horrible. What's so great about a shallow contest that has young girls dressing like 20 year old women. Why the heck do some children's beauty pagents have swimsuit competitions for? I'd have a few choice words for the barnacle head who came up with such a stupid concept.
I think they're horrible!!! Dressing up little 5 year olds to look like 20 somethings, it's hideous!!!

How do I get started in Beauty Pageants?
I want to get started in beauty pageants. I am 11 and will be 12 in September. I live in Arizona and I have no CLUE how to get started haha:) I would like to be in one over the summer that is in Arizona. Thank you!
please helpHow do I get started in Beauty Pageants?
It's best not to, since such endeavors are shallow and materialistic by nature. True beauty lies within, and such things are not made evident on a ';beauty'; pageant stage.

Have you ever competed in a Beauty Pageant?
I'm going to be competing in my first one this summer and I'm nervous. What was the pageant like?Have you ever competed in a Beauty Pageant?
yes, i have been in plenty. being nervous is normal, just try not to show it - to calm your nerves take deep breaths, in your nose and our your mouth. close your eyes and concentrate on each breath, think of something that relaxes you! it really works. remember to ALWAYS smile, it makes you look confident (%26amp; confidence is sexy!). there can be a number of things you're being judged on depending on what type of pageant you're in. when 'interviewing' ALWAYS keep eye contact, keep your answers concise yet full, and be up to date on current events (it'll come in handy!) a good answer should have 4 parts. 1) count to three before answering 2) have a lead in sentence, like, ';i honestly believe that...'; 3) answer the question 4) summarization, ';so overall i believe that ';X'; is the reason that....';
good luck !Have you ever competed in a Beauty Pageant?
Yes, I competed from the time I could walk till I was 8 or 9..Don't be nervous, Just remember to smile big, Keep your head up, and Be confident, If they ask questions, It may be a little nerve wracking..and It's alright if you mix your words up...It's a fun experience, and you meet alot of friends when you do pageants....When I did pageants, I always forgot to do my turn, so my Moms friend(who's daughter also did pageants.) stood in behind and gave her finger a twirl when It was time for me to do my turn, So if your nervous about that, have someone do that...But their's usually a few categorys like Talent, Evening, Casual, Swim(I think.)..
YES!
there nerve-racking at first.
when you see all the girls walking up there.
but it's really fun, once you get out there you walk down the isle, to the side, to the other side, you just walk around and stop everyonce and a while.
perferablly about 30 seconds.
you usually have to bring 3 outfits, depending what catagories your doing.
ex, casual, semi-casual, and swimsuits.
and at the end of everything you stand in a line with all your compendators and they call you out in runner-ups.
its pretty fun.
you'll like it
Pageants are easy, just practice your act all the time till you can do it in your sleep. If you are asked a question don't stutter, and think about it. For the formal dress thing get a llong dress not one to your knee's becausse that might not be considered formal and they'll dock points. Also don't cry if you lose, everyone makes fun of the girl that cry's...good luck=]
i was in the miss hawaiin tropic pageant. its at the end of summer. you have to be tan, have a casual outfit, and bikini. and just like any other pageant, you have to smile, have poise, and confidence.
I have you have to show the judges that you r confident smilr and loosen up and its soooo much funn! i won my tittle! good luck i hope you win!
No but i might get into modeling.
I haven't.

What's a job that includes beauty and science?
Im fifteen. I dont mind staying in college for 8 years. I love make-up and anything to do with beauty. And i love learning about science and how the skin works.
Also is there anything besides dermatology? What's a job that includes beauty and science?
Many cosmetics companies have research and development (R%26amp;D) departments that examine the creation new products or new technologies, like anti-aging like the Pond's Institute. An advanced degree in biochemistry (at least a Master's level) might be a good direction. If you aim your sights higher, and go to medical school (starting with a science degree prior to entry), you can specialize in cosmetic surgery. What's a job that includes beauty and science?
i think we need to develop genetically altered skin that has chlorophyll and can do photosynthesis. That way we could all live totally ';green'; and help the earth. But we'd need lots of makeup. Maybe you could get a job on this?
