Does society in large still praise the attractive thin woman vs. a heavier woman with beauty?

I personally prefer a thicker woman, not obese but thick or full figured if you will.Does society in large still praise the attractive thin woman vs. a heavier woman with beauty?
Yes. Just look at the fashion magazines. For a larger sized woman to be admired, she has to be considered EXCEPTIONALLY beautiful. Someone like Emme or Jennifer Hudson or EXCEPTIONALLY talented like Queen Latifah.

and thank you for noticing the difference between thick and truly obese. Some people just don't get it.

Yes, I'm big, but am ';fit'; because I do work out and eat right...and I really don't appreciate being lumped in with people who are out of shape, dumpy, lumpy, morbidly obese at 500 lbs or more by people who think that everyone MUST be 100 lbs in order to deserve love and happiness in life. It's just as bad as those who think all thin women are anorexicDoes society in large still praise the attractive thin woman vs. a heavier woman with beauty?
i think our society is so backwards! Report Abuse

Which society? In many parts of Western society, yes - although obviously it's a trend and there are many individual differences (many people individually will prefer larger women. Society as a whole tends towards prefering thinner women). However, this isn't the same for all societies (especially not societies where food is scarcer, which are more likely to find heavier women attractive)
Well I think so. But studies show that throughout history small waist were one of the most complimented thing in romanic poetry more so even then breast. But scientist believe that its not actually the size but the waist to hip ratio. Studies show that women with smaller waist tend to be more fertile then throws who are more square shaped. So mens desire for women with hips and women's desire to have a smaller waist may just be primal instincts.

Edit: Here's an article about it : (news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/644 (add this yahoowouldn''t let me put all of it) 4851.stm)
I definetly think so. I think it's awful that we live in a society where a size 10 is considered plus size. I think what matters is a person being happy with how they look and healthy. Clothes are made for smaller people, and while I'm on the subject, can anyone tell me why clothes for bigger people are floral and wild designs that aren't flattering?
Thin isn't the word. Society still praises the anorexic woman. Anorexic women are everywhere. But individuals like what they like. Society's opinion is f*%26amp;#$%d up, and they also praise drug addicts and alcoholics. Can't listen to them.
Because thinness (as they define it) is harder to achieve, so it gives you more opportunities to sell people things they don't need?
Always. Heroin chic is very desirable.
Yes.
Yep.
Yes, they do. It's mostly due to changes in culture.
