He thought Kevin Spacey WAS gay. He hated himself because he was gay as well and was ashamed of that. When he kissed Spacey he was ashamed he did it plus he had all this pent up anger inside him about being ashamed about being gay that he took it out on spacey by shooting himWhy did the father of the weird boy in American Beauty kill Kevin Spacey?
He thought that he was a closet gay like himself. And when he was rejected he didn't want him to let anyone know about what happened. That is what I got from watching it.
