Why do those of wealth and beauty know nothing of work or duty?

I thought this was a profound little quip from the Decemberists ';We go down together';Why do those of wealth and beauty know nothing of work or duty?
That's really great! Where did you find that? I want to get a copy of it!Why do those of wealth and beauty know nothing of work or duty?
It's not profound; it's narrow-minded. How do you think most people became rich? By sitting on their butts doing nothing? And how do you think they continue to keep their wealth? I know many hard-working people who are wealthy, and I know a LOT of very lazy people who are poor (myself being in the poor, lazy category!)

As for beauty, it's true that it can help someone get ahead easily, but it can also be a handicap. How serious do you think people take a beautiful female attorney before getting to know her? Many, like you and The Decemberists, might assume that she slept her way to the top, or that she's an idiot.

Saying that ';those of wealth and beauty know nothing of work or duty'; is just as prejudicial, closed-minded and ignorant as saying ';Black people rob liquor stores'; or ';Mexicans don't like to work.'; Just because you're not speaking of their skin color doesn't make it anything other than what it is.
Cute quote, but not always true.

I've worked as executive assistant to some of LA's most prominent businessmen, and the generosity and integrity that I've encountered has been truly heartwarming. I'm not just talking about money, but actual involvement in community and service, in many instances, involving the entire family. Many charitable foundations are started by the wealthy who happen to have a passion for a particular cause. Of course, not all wealthy families are the same, but they are human beings like the rest of us who just happen to be graced with money and privilege. Why should we think less of them because they have more?

That said, money can also make you lazy and vain - I've seen alot of that too! :-)
.

A word is missing from the phrase...';Why do SOME of wealth and beauty know nothing of work or duty';.

Why does anyone, wealthy or not, of beauty or not, know nothing of any given thing?

The ';why'; of that is that some are ';shadowed'; and unaware and some are not.

.
It's just a lyric, not an generalized observation of the human condition. It's not that profound. The boy came from a wealthy family of beautiful people and was spoiled because he was pampered. He didn't have to work or do chores or keep promises, etc.
Ah yes, the rich people. The last legitimate target of PC-acceptable ridicule and stereotype. Thank God that we'll have at least one minority group that we can always belittle, otherwise, bigots would have no outlet to blame their problems on.
It was not in their present earthly adventure?
I am not sure ... but they are too busy enjoying themselves!

  • What is a good bible verse about beauty?

I made this bracelet for my best friend and she isn't a christian and i am trying to get her into the bible and come to church with me. what is a good verse about beauty, that i could give her with the bracelet?

I would like one like beauty in God's eye's or something like that.

Thanks! What is a good bible verse about beauty?
There are many verses that speak of beautiful women, but the verse that tells women how to be truly beautiful is in the following passage. Here we are told that women should be beautiful from within, ';the hidden man of the heart,'; ornamented with ';a meek and quiet spirit;'; not from fancy clothes, hairstyles or jewelry.

    1 Peter 3:1-6

    ';Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

    Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

    Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.';

Taking out a Lip Piercing *madonna or beauty spot whatever you want to call it*?

I have my top lip pierced and im thinking about taking it out. Can anybody tell me if it generally scars badly or how long it will take to heal completely?

Thanks in advance.Taking out a Lip Piercing *madonna or beauty spot whatever you want to call it*?
Generally, piercing scars look like natural skin blemishes. In some people it looks like a freckle, some it looks like a chicken pox scar or just a white dot. It won't heal and stick out or anything. It would probably take about 8 weeks to completely close up, depending on how long you've had it. If you've had it pierced less than a year it could close in a matter of days and heal over in a few weeks. The older the piercing the longer it takes to close.

My personal preference - Keep it!

If you don't want to see it every day just get a retainer, who knows, you might want it back. It's not easy to re pierce in the same spot.

How can I look like a Brazilian Beauty?

I am brazilian of Portuguese decent, but I want to look really beautiful. I have dark brown hair, pale brown skin, and deep deep brown eyes. Like what color eyes and skin and hair should I have to look like a true beauty. How can I look like a Brazilian Beauty?
I would say curl your hair and get lots of sun for a nice mulata look. I would also get lots of excercise to be fit and toned for that nice beach look. As far as eye colors..brown eyes like you have fits the bill. If you find you need help with your body type do the www.bodyforlife.com program. That will help you out big time. Helped me.How can I look like a Brazilian Beauty?
Seems like you could answer your own question--when you imagine what kind of ';beauty'; you want to look like--what color hair/eyes/skin does she have? After that, it's a question of realism--is it possible for you to get that skin color through tanning, etc., are you willing to dye your hair, wear colored contact lenses, etc.

Having said that all, why is it that you don't feel beautiful now? Sometimes the reasons aren't simply physical; there's other ways to feel that you're beautiful--a form of self-confidence which often then has a self-fulfilling quality to it.
Sounds like you've already got it covered with the way you look now. Maybe get a deeper, darker tan?

How do you plan and win a beauty pageant?

My mum is going to enter me into a teen beauty pageant for the first time. I am thirteen, and we thought we could bond over something like this. Problem is we know nothing about them! could you tell me:

what categories their are I.E talent or swimsuits

how competitive the other contestants are

how i need to plan for this

thanks alot xxxHow do you plan and win a beauty pageant?
Ooh! You're going to have so much fun! Okay, so it really depends on what pageant you are doing, but most pageants have different categories: swimsuit, evening gown, onstage question, personal interview. Then some pageants have a talent category as well. As for how the contestants are, it really depends. Some girls try to make friends with the other contestants, while others are more devious and are in it only for personal gain. I recommend searching the internet for in-depth overviews of the different categories, and I also strongly recommend talking with the pageant director-- they can usually give you ideas for different outfits. If you really are determined to win, you can hire a pageant coach, who will work on your interview skills, your walking, and other things you need to improve on. Also, you can get practice interview questions online that your mom can quiz you on. Good luck and have fun!How do you plan and win a beauty pageant?

What do you think about young child beauty pagents?

Just curious what the general opinion is.What do you think about young child beauty pagents?
Morally WRONG. It's teaching girls that to get by in life you need to wear make up, strut around and be charming and flirtatious and be beautiful to be successful. Two words: Jon-benet Ramsay. What do you think about young child beauty pagents?
I saw that documentary too. It's disgusting. Dragging your kids all over the country (what did they say 500 mile round trip for voice lessons? Give me a break!) to make yourself feel good because your child is dressed the skankiest and can put on the most makeup and fake smile? I felt bad for that one father...he looked like he thought it was BS but I think he just wanted to support his little girl.
no way. what is the point? i guarantee that no child is going to ask or let alone know about beauty pageants unless you expose them to it and for what purpose does that serve. let children be children.
I think they are sick, something is wrong with the mother.
I think it's disgusting. Children have no business prancing around in gowns and makeup. I saw this show on them once, and they even go as far as to give them fake teeth, spray tans and hair weaves!!! Think of what these ';mothers'; are teaching their daughters. How sick.
It's sad to know that some parents take advantage of their children to gain popularity or make money for themselves (not ALL parents, but generally speaking). I feel that you should not take away their childhood by getting them involved in these pageants. They are just innocent children . If we expose themselves to such a pageant, they will not be able to think for themselves and have their own opinions and creativity. They will only know how to listen to other's instructions and things like ';do this'; and '; go there';. Let them live their childhood, because other wise we, as parents will regret making such a decision when they get older.
    de-moralizing
I think they give kids a completely twisted sense of what is important, set kids up as bait for predators, and feed into the fact that this society worships people like Paris Hilton. Parents who need to live vicariously through the children should learn to revere academic achievement, creativity and kindness rather than artificially created looks.
My opinion is that they are sickening. I would never pimp my daughter out- that's all it is to me. It's not about the child- I've never heard of a child honestly wanting this without a good bit of coaxing from their parent(s). Even if my daughter somehow came up with the idea herself (yeah, right), I'd teach her that pageants are superficial and that she's worth so much more than how she looks. Uggh. I don't even like thinking about it.
I think its sick! who would make their little child compete to see who is the cutest....that kid will grow up with serious inserurity problems
I don't see anything wrong with it at all. If I had a daughter I would participate. Granted I would not drive 500 miles and go into debt for it. It is not demoralizing. Its cute! For all you people trying to teach your children about the inside you got it all wrong. This world is very cruel and by you sheltering your children now telling them the outtside doesn't matter is making things worse when they get a little older and have to start dealing with the kids at school.

  • I need a good these on the beauty of black and white teenage girls?

How they view their bodies? How they define beauty in different ways? and why most white teenage girls dislike their bodies and black girls are proud or satisfied with their body? REMEMBER: thesis about this, NOT answer to these question.I need a good these on the beauty of black and white teenage girls?
The thing with this question...is that it's an assumption...

Not all white girls are ashamed of their bodies, and not all black girls are proud of their bodies.

Both of them just do whatever is the trend...If big booties are in, all the white girls want big booties...and the black girls just go ';Oh. I got 'em.';...

If blonde hair is in...some white girls go ';I got it.';...some black girls go out and get a blonde weave.I need a good these on the beauty of black and white teenage girls?
    black girls look way better
all teenage girls are dissatisfied with there bodies it doesn't matter what color they are..

Why can women be true about her beauty instead wear all that thick make up on their face?

i don't wear make up. just black eyebrow lashes and black eyebrow pencil on the eyelids. lipgross. I know it is part of make up. do you wear makeup to impress someone or yourself? Why can women be true about her beauty instead wear all that thick make up on their face?
Why do you wear makeup? You sound like a hypocrite. Why can't you just let people be. You look a bit overweight in that picture. Maybe you should worry about losing some weight. ...just my opinion.

Edited to add: I see you changed your picture. LMAO. And as for Candygurl, I bet you're the poster under another alias. I say it as it is. Why come on a makeup forum asking why women can't be true to themselves and in the same sentence say how you wear makeup? Get a life. That does reek of hypocrite to me.Why can women be true about her beauty instead wear all that thick make up on their face?
I wear make up because I like to feel good about myself, I like the way it looks. Like most of the others that have replied, it's about feeling good about myself for me, not for other people. I wouldn't wear it the way I do if it were for others.
i dont wear much. i only wear mascara, foundation, and light (very light!) eyeliner sometimes. i do use it for my self confidence, and cuz i guess its nice for guys to notice you.
because some women aren't self confident. or if not thats just there custom or how they were brought up

    i just dont know

i answered this cause i was bored ;)
i wear make-up to enhance my natrual features

i wear eyeliner and eyeshadow a lil brown and some shine/sparkels in a natrual colors

then i wear minelals on my face and the skin clearing co ver-up if neccasary

    i wear lipgloss 2
i wear makeup to make my eyes look prettier

i've a don't wear mascara or eyeliner because my eyes are dark it makes me look ill if i don't put it on !

... also i just wear lipgloss to make my lips smoother
i wear make up, but not to impress anyone

it helps hide things im insecure about, makes me feel abit better about myself
I'm impressed with your spelling and grammar. Lipgross?

I wear eyeliner and mascara to enhance my eyes. I wear blush because my face is pale and I like to see a little color in it. I wear lip GLOSS or lipstick because my lips are also pale and they look so much better with some color.

Everything I do, I do it because I like to look good.....for me.
I like to wear natural looking makeup because I think I look better with it. However, I am not embarassed by the way I look without it. I just like to even out my complexion and enhance my natural beauty. I also have very pale skin and look kind of dead without blush. I do agree that some women go to far and wear waaaay too much. That is usually some underlying self-esteem issue.

For most women though, just want to improve themselves a little. If we all had perfect glowing skin, thick lashes and pink lips, we would probably wear makeup a lot less.
    I wear makeup for myself.

I don't wear makeup to be ';pretty';, I wear it to look like art. Not everyone cares if you judge their natural beauty, and some love their faces enough to experiment with it and still feel comfortable.
I wear makeup to make me look even better than i already look like =] (not being bigheaded or anything) but i also wear it to impress other people i realy care about what people think of me so if i look good on the outside then they want to know how i am on the inside =]

    x
as for X GT, what is your problem? she is trying to get answer and she did not even insult anyone. who in the hell you calling overweight? you don't even know how she looks now. look at yourself, you are the one who is hypocrite and judge how she weight. for the last comment, stop being a damn mean as ***** and u got a lot ugly going on inside you.

I do youtube makeup tutorials, and I want to know- What are your favorite beauty products?

Be specific. What's the brand?I do youtube makeup tutorials, and I want to know- What are your favorite beauty products?
Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile soap - I use this is as my shampoo, body wash, face wash, AND shave lather. It leaves me clean, soft, and tingly with peppermint, without all the unpronounceable chemicals of drugstore brands. It's all vegetable oil based and not expensive or hard to find (I've seen it at Walgreens).

Apple Cider Vinegar (any brand will do) - not so known as a beauty product, this is stuff, diluted, makes a GREAT conditioner! Put two tablespoons per one quart of water in a spray bottle, spray on after shampooing, and wash out a few minutes later with cool water. Your hair will be soft and tangle free - trust me!

Tom's of Maine Deodorant - I've used many scents, but lemongrass, lavender, and apricot are my favorites. They're all natural, but trust me - they work as well as any other deodorant.

Blue House Soaps Detangler - www.bluehousesoaps.com. They come in about 12-16 different scents, all amazing (woodsman, mermaid, and honey almond are my favorites so far), and great for taking out the few tangles that the cider vinegar may have missed :)

Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel - finally, an aloe with no dye, perfume, or alcohol! This great for irritated or post-shaved skin after the shower, as well as scrunching curly hair like mine :)

I highly recommend you try some of these :)I do youtube makeup tutorials, and I want to know- What are your favorite beauty products?

Does everything in the universe has its beauty?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a wonderful day.Does everything in the universe has its beauty?
There seems to be a fair amount of goodness and beauty in most things in the Universe, from the smallest insect on Earth to the most distant galaxy in Outer Space.

The more knowledgeable, open-minded and passionate one is about Life in general, the more likely he is to appreciate the various forms of beauty in the plants, animals, human beings and even minerals around him.

I see great beauty in the various designs of snowflakes, the beautiful patterns and colours of butterflies, leaves, the insides of the onion, cabbage, and the complexity and sexy forms of the male and female body and the parts. There is indeed much beauty in the mountains and valleys during different seasons, the sky and oceans, even the sunrises, sunsets and various formations of the clouds. At night, a sky clear of pollution, would reveal billions of stars and galaxies, not only silver or white, but also red, orange, yellow, blue and other unexpected colours, which can only be seen with powerful telescopes. You just wonder and wonder Who is really responsible for creating all these marvels and mysteries that even Man, the supposedly most intelligent creature, has been unable to unravel.

The trick in appreciating beauty is to take adequate time to think, read and to closely observe all these things of beauty, most of which are actually 'under your very nose', so to speak, and right before your eyes. And not to forget also about the beauty of melodies and lyrics which so many gifted musical persons have created, that have brought so much solace and happiness to tired or depressed souls.

Of course, there are still some pockets of 'ugliness' in the world, that are often unavoidable--the destructive hurricanes and earthquakes, the serial killers, cruel and shameful acts committed by fathers and step-fathers, mindless mass shootings, undisciplined and violent gangsters roaming free in public, poisonous and dangerous animals and insects, chemicals, gases, which are fortunately few and far between, etc...

Life is never perfect, as it always has its dualities. We just have to enjoy what it offers us, its ups and downs, its beauty and ugliness. Life is short, so might as well smile more and be optimistic about it, bathe more in its beauty and value, and live it to our fullest. Cheers and Peace Be With You! :-))Does everything in the universe has its beauty?
I think everyone has a different perception of what beauty is. And this is why everything MUST have beauty, as we may see something we see all the time, only now you see it in a new light as you took the effort to examine the composition, and what it is made of, or even how it shines in the sunlight.

Also - people. We are not going to think every man in the world is attractive. But I bet there is someone who finds that unattractive guy to be the most handsome man in their life. It is all in how you see things in your life.

    Thanks for reading!
    ';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.';

The material world is based on our mental conceptions. Everything is created by God to who is fulfilling our desires. based on our deserved karma. But that does not mean that everything here is necessarily beautiful to Him. Though He is allowing and destributing things in the material world.

Ones persons beauty is anothers ugly. Or any living entity for that matter.

The way I have understood it is that God is the Supreme Beautiful and everything emanates from Him. All that is beautiful in this world, is but a spark of His splendor.

This is written in the Bhagavad Gita.

But the material energy is based on Maya (Gods illusory energy) It is temporary. There is always duality here so there is beauty and also ugly as well ,which is based on ones perception and realization.

Actual beauty is of the spiritual energy of God and is eternal.

    Great question!
    Hi Third p

Well, in the truth yes, everything in this world is just perfect, every things (including bad things) has it's beauty.

Even those people who say that there's somethings not good or beautiful. they can't deny that they can't how imagine would be if this things wouldn't there.

What I've wrote above Applies only to the real world (Natural world) not that world we - The humans - have made.

because nobody can Say that the war, famine, hate, racism,.... etc. has its beauty.

The beauty exist in everything in the natural world and the good side of the world we made (Including the bad things like sadness but not the tragedy because this belong to that other world that I've mentioned)

    Yes, everything has it's beauty.

For example: I currently use Snail secretions and emu oil on my skin. What other beauty products can I find that are considered strange and unusual? I'm looking for a PURE product as well, all natural, and something most people would cringe at the idea of using on their skin! Thanks in advance! What are some strange, exotic, alternative beauty products?

Can you use Nivea Visage Natural Beauty Radiance Boosting Moisturizer as a night cream?

On the packaging it says apply in the morning but i was wondering if using it as a night cream would affect my skin at all?Can you use Nivea Visage Natural Beauty Radiance Boosting Moisturizer as a night cream?
    Hi

The Nivea Cream you use in the morning is to moisturize and protect your skin against daily elements so really you need to use a night cream to feed your skin whilst you sleep and you will wake up with skin that feels soft and nourished.

It really is important to use a night cream if you can. I do not have much experience with Nivea but I use a Olay regime which I love.

I hope this helps you and if you need more information take a look at the website below.

Beauty is in the simple pleasures. What physical pleasures do you enjoy?

Explain the phrase ';Beauty is in simple pleasures.'; What pleasure do you most enjoy?Beauty is in the simple pleasures. What physical pleasures do you enjoy?
Simple pleasures? Free, awesome massages from my bf. Manicures from my Mum.

The days when I can get away without a drop of foundation on my face.

Do guys in the professional work force EVER focus on a woman's beauty with intentions to 'disarm' her?

reduce her to just her beauty and rather her intellect?

Or do they simply admire women's beauty regardless of where they are?

Key word is 'EVER'.Do guys in the professional work force EVER focus on a woman's beauty with intentions to 'disarm' her?
I think it's from both sides. Attractive and smart women know that men are putty for a pretty face. But men also value a woman's beauty instead of her intellect, whether or not she's intelligent.Do guys in the professional work force EVER focus on a woman's beauty with intentions to 'disarm' her?
I agree totally with hopskotch. I am an attractive and intelligent female... and, on every single job I've had, it's been the women that I've had problems with. Even though I am very competent, always do my job well, and am very intelligent and well spoken, the females never seem to look past the way that I look... Even though I try very hard to separate myself from gossip and negative people, I have constantly been the victim of other women's jealousy.
I'd say no if she has the competance to do her job. Sometimes that's all the woman has which may keep her in the job. She may be an incompetant idiot, but at least she's good looking, so you may overlook her overall disabilities. One may put up with a jack as s a little more if she's got some fine features.

edit-desire-no their not-i've put many ';forces to be reckoned with'; in their place, male and female. lol
Hun, I don't think the workplace is that complicated.

Of course, I'm not in an office, I'm on my feet for 8 hours in a pharmacy. I guess I never really have time to acknowledge whether a workmate is male or female. All I can see is if their hands are moving and they're filling those amber vails, or leaving me with all the work. It's a lot of the latter sometimes.
';Disarm'; them? I think you're taking the ';battle of the sexes'; too literally.

    Men appreciate female beauty.

If you want to see people ';focused'; on their beauty, listen to the female co-workers of a pretty female.

    The ';focus'; is unmistakable.
    Of course some do.

And some women actually allow themselves to be dismissed, or reduced.

However...a woman who is beautiful, intelligent, and does her job well is a force to be reckoned with.
I am attracted to intelligent and competent women. If she happens to be beautiful as well, good for me.
    Of course.

NOTHING in the world is 100% true. This question is really obvious.

    In one word, duh!
    I don't

Not sure about the business side of things, but I know you could approach salons and ask them to carry your products on consignment, that way you just stock several salons/barbers in your region, and don't have to actually have a store front, unless you want to of course :)

What is your definition for love, beauty, and poetry?

All three have no exact definition. They are sometime interchangeable. example: Beauty inspires poetry and feelings of love, love inspires beauty in poetry, poetry brings up feelings of love and brings out the true beauty in things. Im just wondering what are their definitions to you. And how are they connected in your eyes. What is your definition for love, beauty, and poetry?
Those things are not meant to be defined. They are to be experienced. What is your definition for love, beauty, and poetry?
Poetry.....Love......Beauty these things have the same meaning. They are to look and feel wonderful but on the inside they all twist and defile and destroy what you truly believe in. Love will give you happiness but can also cause death and hate. Beauty is external but the hate not only for yourself and for the beautiful will go deep inside you. Poetry is only good on one side, but on the other it is cruelty mixed with hate. But remember this dear inquisitor although my answer is true it doesn't mean you must despair for the very reason it is true. One side is terrible but the other side can be just as sweet what really matters is how you can handle it. Overindulgence is a one-way ticket to hell.
love is a feeling of intense attraction. Spiritual lifting. As humans we are born to reproduce. Love is our adaptation...to want one another. Beauty is the quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality. Poetry..is how you explain everything in a rythmical and catchy way.
Love: Probably the best definition for love I've ever heard was from the film JUNO, when the father says people love you no matter what (fat, skinny, angry sad, happy). The people you KNOW for a garentee will never leave you love you.

Beauty: Is like a diamond, or a star. You can stare at it for days and still find something new about it.

    Poetry: My definition is ';emotion in motion';
LOVE is a comfortable psychological upset of the persona, involuntarily triggered by an external force ( BEAUTY- ). and the whole commotion/state of the being is POETRY . In poertry, we mostly use contextual meaning of words instead of dictionary definition
Love is the willingness to give up one's love for someone you care about. It has nothing to do with beauty and poetry.

Beauty is the subjective characteristic evaluation of an external entity.

    Poetry

    is.
love= when a soul feels itself within and without another

    beauty= undefinable in anyway

    poetry= beauty

  • What are your favorite makeup and beauty products?

I'm going to be buying new makeup soon and I want to know what has worked best for you, and the company that makes it. thanksWhat are your favorite makeup and beauty products?
First of all I must say that maybelline, leoreal paris and cover girl are the worst cosmetics ever. They are cheap and low quality products. Unless you want to go out looking like a drugstore diva who has no idea about makeup I would suggest you stay away from those brands. Not only are they icky they also test thier products on animals! Which means they force animals such as bunnies and dogs to eat the makeup to test if it is toxic or not. Most of the animals end up dying because of it. The sad part about it is, there are other alternatives to make up testing. Robots, artifical skin, computers. And animals don't have the same kinda of reactions to make up that humans do. No saying we should test on humans but there are other things. if you want to learn more about this go to www.caringconsumer.com

Anyways, back to makeup, there is this amazing brand of cosmetics. They are high quality products with resonable pricing. There called benefit cosmetics. There products not only work great but they are also cruelty free, vegan and have funny names like miss popularity and you clean up nice facial cleanser. They make makeup, body ,skin, products and facial products. Best products I have ever used, hands down. I would highly reccomend benefit cosmetics.

Some of my favorites are these.

. Bathina touch me and try to leave body butter. I know this isn't makeup but it has an amazing scent and leaves your skin soft and mositerized for hours.

. V.I.P. lip glosses. They come in so many colors and taste great. They last for hours on end without ever losing their shine.

. Bad gal lash mascara. The best mascara I have ever used. curls, lengthens, darkens, and is clump free. Also a little goes a long way.

. Moon beam. An amazing shimmer cream that is used to illumnate your face and body. Can be used to make cleavage stand out, thin out a large wide nose, and just give a bit of shimmer when ever and where ever you need it. Reminder, this creamish gel is not glittery, its shimmery.

. Jet set waterproof cream eyeliner. Lasts forever and comes in so many pretty colors.

To get any of these products and more, go to www.benefitcosmetics.com

Also, Mac cosmeytics and bare minerals are pretty good. Very expensive but very good and cruelty free! go to www.bareescentuals.com or www.maccosmetics.com also for a wide varity of makeup go to www.sephora.com

I hope I helped! Good luck! =)What are your favorite makeup and beauty products?

    Revlon liquid eyeliner..

cover girl eyeshadow/ dreamatte moose (copnceiler)

    Victoria Secret lipgloss

    Covergirl lash exact mascara

    and a smile :]
    wet n wild tinted moisturizer

    it works like a foundation

it covers up my blemishes and creates an even skin tone and no one even notices that i'm wearing make-up (they think im naturally pretty= ])

that and i love mascaras nd bronze eyeshadows.. those r my life .. my current fave mascara is cover girl lash exact. truley amazing!
    MAC is great (maccosmetics.com)

it's really good quality. The powder eyeshadows are nice ($14). it's really the best place to get long-lasting eyeshadow.

MAC is pretty expensive, though, so you can go to eyeslipsface.com because everything there is $1 and it's actually good quality stuff.

if you are looking for drugstore brnads, though, try maybelline. The have really nice mascara and i love the whipped matte foundation ($8).
i really love mac pigment eyeshadow, and there eyeliner i like max factor color mascara and lancome juicy tubes lip gloss
Bare Essentials...It's awesome. I don't really wear makeup but it is very light. Good stuff!
I really like MAC its sort of expensive, but who cares! It works so well! They have a great selection! Check out the site!
I like MAC but if I can't afford it I go to the drug store and buy Maybelline. I like their mascara anyway, the one that comes in a big pink tube. I buy Cover girl cover stick, the one that is like a lipstick. I also use NYC eye shadow sometimes and it is ok too. Drug store brand and really cheap but it works well, especially if you use the Cover girl cover stick first. I don't usually wear lip stick but I use Blistix lip balm in the light purple tube.

    Good luck...hope this was helpful!
    maybelline. affordable and good quality.
My Maybelline Dream Matte Powder is great! It fits my skin tone perfectly! I used to wear Cover Girl foundation in Buff Beige which never quit fit my skin tone. [It was a little light and the next shade was to dark.] Now I wear the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Sand and it fits perfectly! Alot of my friends also had the problem I did and when they switched to it, it also fit their skintone great too!

Oh yeah Maybelline has really good eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, and concealer too!

Who are the main characters of Beauty and the Beast?

I heard there were 35 of them, which ones are the major ones?Who are the main characters of Beauty and the Beast?
    Belle

    Beast

    Lumiere (candle)

    Cogsworth (clock)

    Gaston

    Le fou

    Mrs. Potts (tea pot)

    Chip (tea cup)

    Maurice (Belle's father)

    Monsieur D'Arque (asylum keeper)

    Babbette (duster)

that pretty much covers all the named characters....of course I was assuming here that you were referring to the Disney show.

In the classic story it's really just La belle et la b锚te ( beauty and the beast.. no other characters)Who are the main characters of Beauty and the Beast?
The main characters of Beauty and the Beast are Belle which means beautiful in French and the Beast who got his name because he was hideous and looked like a beast! But in the end, the Beast became a prince anyway.
There cannot be 35 main characters, but there may be that many supporting roles with lines and some with songs. All probably make up the chorus.
I would say Belle, the Beast, and I think that the candle stick and the clock are important characters too.
Believe it or not, Beauty and the Beast are the main charaters !

I need some information on how to write a persuasive speech on Beauty of/in Media?

I am pro for Beauty of Media (because i had no choice the teacher chose randomly for me). Being for something is not my specialty, so I need some good persuausions to grab the listeners attention. Thank You.I need some information on how to write a persuasive speech on Beauty of/in Media?
First brainstorm the topic. Learn all you can about media. Think of examples of beauty. Think of arguments against that. Then pick your most persuasive OR the most unusual example. Go with that for your lead-in. This is where you grab the audience's attention, so that is where you want to really spend time writing very well.

Throughout your whole speech, you are trying to get your audience on your side. Be nice and not abrasive. Be firm and believable. Only say things you truly belive, and say them with conviction.

After the introduction, then you want to show that you know there are pros and cons to this argument, but that the pros ultimately are more persuasive.

Be careful of the transitions between paragraphs. It should all flow smoothly.

Now that you've begun, you need to prove your argument. To do that, state your thesis in a totally factual way. This is not the place for argument. Here is where you give the evidence. Next give supporting evidence. You still are not stating your point of view in this part. Just stick to the information that is clear and non disprovable. Be clear, focused, and totally on topic.

The next part is your arguments. This is the part where you should be talking the longest. Give your clearest arguments. Save your strongest argument for last.

After stating your arguments, take the time to refute the arguments on the other side of the issue. Don't skip this step. This will make or break your speech. Make sure you really work hard on thinking this part through. Again, save your strongest refutation for last.

Finally, sum up your argument. Summarize your points. Either leave the audience with a quote, or a call to some sort of action. Make sure the last sentence really gets their attention and gets them agreeing with you. That last sentence is so important! Use it wisely!

What happens at a doggie beauty contest?

There are a lot of fun events in the St. Louis area for dogs, considering it's a Purina headquarters. And at some of the park events as a fun side contest, they have doggie beauty contests and ugliest dog contests and trick contests. Very casually though, not for nationals or anything. and I know they even let mutts into the beauty contests. So I was busy at my venue and didn't see how its judged or who won. But I think its very fun sounding.

Have you ever been to a similar thing and how is it judged. How do you think they chose the dogs? What happens at a doggie beauty contest?
They judge them based on their looks (beauty) as each of them see the dog (just like beauty contests for humans), but in my eyes ALL dogs are beautiful in their own way.

What goes in all those beauty creams for wrinkles? Mine says made in Israel?

I really do want to know. Why cant they be made in the USA?What goes in all those beauty creams for wrinkles? Mine says made in Israel?
Israel produces some internationally marketed cosmetics based on minerals from the Dead Sea. Jordan is the only other country in the world with access to these unique, naturally occuring mineral deposits. There is nothing similar on Earth. What goes in all those beauty creams for wrinkles? Mine says made in Israel?
i'm not sure.the best advice i can give is to google search the brand of cream you use and the ingredients.
If you are looking for wrinkle cream made in the USA!! Arbonne is made in the USA! Email me to learn more!!
Amen to what Ego said ... If you have the mineral creams from Israel - made from the Dead Sea itself (or ';Salt Sea'; as it is also called, just South-East of Jerusalem, and joined to the Sea of Galilee by the Jordan river), - you have the healthiest and most remarkably wonderful products in the world.

Technically speaking, you *could* buy American-made products. But with the business-driven mentality of the West, and their reliance upon chemically-produced compounds, you're not getting the healthiest benefits provided you - by natural products. No matter what their advertisements say!

It is for this kind of reasoning, that the French slapped an 'all-market' ban on American-made cosmetics after it was believed that certain types of cancer were caused by compounds in US-made lip-sticks, and similar products.

Rather than complain that you have Israeli products - Praise G-D for them - as you have a natural and healthful blessing that is hard to get in other places, and is found absolutely nowhere else in the world! - and people will be charged through the nose for them - by the many unscrupulous and dishonest dealers out there!

    :o) God bless! :o)

    Yosef!

I am planning on getting my hair done for Prom at a local beauty college because I heard it isn't very pricey, but will it turn out really nice? Can I depend on a beauty college for a good up-do?
yes and the instructor will be around so IF any

questions come up but yes do thatCan I depend on a beauty college for a good up-do?
Maybe maybe not. Updo's in a beauty school is not a thing for them to have a class on. Mostly when you are in beauty school you are studying for your boards to be licensed. They have a specific book to go by.

If by chance they do updo's they will not have a whole lot of experience so it is going to be iffy.

Here is an idea go over and let them do it before the prom then you can make a informed decision.
Generally you won't be disapponted.I recommend that you pick out a style and bring the picture with you there, but be open to other options because sometimes they just cant do everything. Its a great way to save money, stay simple but elegant.

How do you win a beauty pageant if you've never competed in one?

I'm 18 and want to do a competition when i'm like 20/21 because by then i'll have more training in dance. How do you win a beauty pageant if you've never competed in one?
    You have to...

    Keep up with current events

    Workout

    Practice interviewing

    Practice talent

Practice stance and walking in heels

    Practice personal introduction, speeches, etc

    To prepare, you have to...

    Do all of the above

    Fill out your resume

    Make sure pictures are ready

Make sure all your payments are made

    Make sure outfits are ready

Make sure you have all your accessories: shoes, jewelry, purse, makeup, etc.

You can also hire a pageant coach.

    Sample interview questions:

    http://valleyqueens.com/home/?page_id=18鈥?/a>

I have a pageant checklist for when you have to compete you do not for get anything. You can just email me. You can also email me if you have any other questions such as outfits or which pageant to do, I will be glad to help. How do you win a beauty pageant if you've never competed in one?
wow youll never win just embarass yourself,

look im 8 years old and have been training and competing ever since i can remember, my mom is a retired pageant queen

there is way to much to do and trust me u need at least 4 years of training

    u can do it maybe

but u have to work hard!
get a trainer that has been and has won before. if u cant then ask all around for tips
I not much fan but i'd guess keep yourself in shape, work on the 'skills' and on your social graces.

Personally I think pagents are hypocritical but winning them does open doors so I guess if you got it, go for it.

(In Canada we kicked our miss canada out one year for punching out another girl.)
First of all, are you from a state in the south? If so your going to need a coach from the get go. If not, then you might be in luck. I'm a pageant girl and i was raised in pageant household. There are several books out there that explain pageantry. It is surviaval of the fittest at its finest. You have to be dedicated to eating right, working out, getting sleeping, talk like a queen and act like a queen at all times. This is the only way that it will be natural. Pilates is great because it will trim you up. Since your 18 i'm sure you'll be going to some sort of college so go the the recreation center. Sometimes you can get into classes for free. It is very expensive dresses, swimsuit the whole bit. Where heels and often. They need to be natural as walking bare foot. I've been wearing heels since i was in 4th grade i'm talking 5 inch heels you might get some clearance ones for practice after prom season at a prom store. Good luck
Smile a lot and make your interview speech all about world peace. It usually works.
If your inexperiinced then get a proffesional pageant coach or someone who has been doing it there whole life!
You have to compete to win.
Don't wait to participate until then....start now. Compete in smaller productions to gain knowledge of the pageant world. I imagine you want to compete in a talent pageant like Miss America....even though talent is important.....public speaking and community service are usually the main factors to winning a Miss America prelim. Good luck
first train yourself..before get a trainerr..to teach you how to dance..yuo practice firt..by your own and discover how your talent need to improve..why you choose dance?why not to sing..so that you can discover that you have many talent's hide..not just focusing in dance...

good luck girll..if you join a contest..just trust to yourself.. and have self confidence ok,,,,,,,,,

Inner beauty is different to different people. Some see inner beauty as just being a good person with good outlook. Others see inner beauty as a person who gives a lot, it just depends on what the definition of a ';good person'; is to you. Everyone has inner beauty, not everyone is evil lol

Inner beauty comes by loving God and others.

What do you think of beauty pageants for little girls?

I remember wanting to be in one when i was little. But my mom didn't want to spend all of the money. My neice wants to do one now, she is 6, and we do have the money for it. Do you think it is a good idea?

She doesn't have any problem with regection at all. She knows that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but it is still fun either way. She has never done anything like this before.

Do you see anything wrong with it?

Have you ever put your kids in pageants?

    Did they enjoy it?

Any other info would be great! ThanksWhat do you think of beauty pageants for little girls?
You should consider putting her in an all natural beauty pageant. If you are going to go ahead with this make sure you mix it up with other activities not just a pageant. You never want little girls to put all their self worth on how they look. There is always going to be someone prettier then you out there. Your niece should always know that her self worth isn't based on her external beauty that how she is inside and how she treats others is far more important. Everything in moderation is good I think. If you are going to be a stage Aunt and get hooked your daughter may look for that high in a winning trophy if she places her value on winning and her looks. What do you think of beauty pageants for little girls?
I think that is some bull ****
I was never in pagents when I was little. But when I was a teenager I LOVED them. I thought they were sooo much fun! Just very girly. I do not think there is anything wrong with putting your child in a pagent.. BUT I do think that when they are old enough 4 or 5 or maybe even younger.. that you need to be ASKING that child if they want to do it or not. Kids will tell you if they like something or not. I do think the money you win should be saved for future educational assistance or something of that nature for the CHILD not the parents. If she is wanting to do one.. I say for it. what is the difference in letting your children do pagents than letting your children do sports (competetions) or dance (competetions) Either way it is all a competition and there is a prize to be won.
I have mixed feelings about it. It can be fun on the one hand, but because of the Jonben茅t Ramsey case, it has become a bit creepy, especially when they keep showing footage of her in beauty pageants.

I think that some competitive spirit is good, but the US in general has taken that way too far, because they usually do that at the expense of a society that should be working together. Our political divisions is proof of that.
Little girls should not be concerned with surface beauty. They should be concerned about being good people. It's not how you look, it's how you act, that determines the kind of person you are. The world doesn't need more beauties. It needs more kind, caring people.
I, personally, would never enroll my children in such a pageant. I believe that they give children a negative view of competition. I believe that they also place entirely too much emphasis on ';being perfect'; and physical superiority. It's also incredibly expensive!
I think that it is a bad idea to put that little girl in pageants. I say that because she is a little girl that will soon become a young lady faster than you can see it and its too many sick men and sometimes women who thrive on little beauty girls- you don't want her to be looked upon like a sex thing for any man, especially at that age- its too grown up, the make up and clothes and all of that it brings to much attention and you dont want her going through that kind of life- I had a friend who was a model since she was small, probably younger than your niece, she wanted to everything else, she enjoyed modeling, but it brought her down when she saw what it started requiring as she got older, she had to get thinner and thinner, her weight was never good enough- my friend wanted to do sports, she did both but after awhile it gets tired
I think they are truly utterly horrible. Nothing worse than teaching your child that beauty is only skin deep. Not only that, pageants are wierd and unnatural. I would never ever consider putting my child through that. Ever.
You should have seen the Dr. Phil show a couple of nights ago. I think its just wrong. The mom even bought her daughter false teeth so she could have a straighter whiter smile.
only if the child really wants to participate.

don't push them into something, and if they decide that it isn't for them, don't make them continue.
I think beauty pagents are awesome... my cousin put her almost 1 year old in one just last weekend and she loved it. She had a blst with it. Which she loves getting her picture taken anyways. Thiers winners and losers always remember that. Not everyone can win, but one day she will win. I think it is a great thing, It will get them in to fashion, maybe cheerleading when they get older, and who knows she could become the next Miss America.
U CAN LET HER GO BUT REMEBER SHE DOING IT FOR FUN DONT PRESSURE HERE 2 DO IT
i thin kids shouldn't be dressed up as mini adults. Sad though it is , you don't want anyone thinkning f them in the wrong way. There are loads of other ways to build confidence, dance or music classes for instance.
Absolutely--it builds confidence and teaches them how to be a good sport!
I try to not focus on outer beauty too much.
People ask why we cannot be rid of prejudices, racial hate, widespread depression, religious and cultural intolerance........maybe we should start by banning the parading of our little girls on stage under layers of makeup, competing for the ';who's prettiest'; honor. We need to teach our kids that life is more about what is inside your mind and heart that who looks best on the outside. Until we put our foot down as a society, anorexia will still be on the cover of vogue, our teenage girls will keep getting pregnant, and teen suicide will never stop. It's our responsibility to teach our kids how to love themselves, and showing them like AKC puppies is just not the way.

whew. sorry... long story, but these things make me so mad.
My 9 year old step-daughter wants to do pagents really really bad!! She just wants the attention and all the pretty clothes!! Which is fine, most little girls LOVE to play dress up!

I think that pagents can be big self esteeme builders for young girls! They get to prance around in the pretty girlie dresses and have everyone clap for them...what kid wouldn't love that??

Like you we have been wondering the same thing about my SD...she wants to be in every pagent and fashion show that comes to town!! One of these days we may just let her! I think that she would love it!

I do think that some parents take it way to far!! The angry, mean, perfectionist parents that want their girls to win win win everytime!! There is the real problem!!!

I don't really think that there is much more presure doing pagents then doing dance or gymnastics...they have to practice practice practice and then proform in front of people...not much different in my eyes!!
I think it can be fun and for children the crowds are hopefully always going to be supportive and friendly.

I only get nervous thought of the children possibly being unsupervised when you do not know who is attending the pagent. But as long as the child is supervised, sounds like a great experiance! :)
JonBonet Ramsey comes to mind !
I think beauty pageants are wrong. Beauty pageants are all about the mother and her selfish needs. Why put children through such torture. It is all about living the mothers' dream, unfortunately there are alot of pedophiles out there that love it especially when they see them online. I feel sorry for any child that has to go through a pageant.
i think it's ok as long as the parents don't put too much pressure on their child. let the child know that it's just friendly competition and that if they don't win then there will be other competitions for years to come.
I know 2 girls who did pageants for years and never spent slot of money. They bought dresses at thrift shops and for under $25. They always won because of who they were and not what they owned. So goes to show, personality goes along ways.
The idea is nice but little girls have to learn to handle rejection at an age where they're just building their personalities. Plus they can't be a kid. It depends on the child as well.
i dont think their is a problem with her being in a pageant, let her have fun while shes young
Little girls should not be made up to look like little hookers.
AS long as you don't go overboard, and she is having fun, what's the problem? I did a pageant when I was younger and it was awesome! I had the most fun! You definitely want to make sure you don't get demanding and pushy for practice, etc., but if she likes to get dressed up and you can afford to do it, let her try it out!
Personally, I think it's wrong. Little girls should be just that little girls. They can learn so many more social skills by participating in a sport, a dance class, plays, a music group, just about anything. What does this teach them actually? To wear a ton of make up, wear these little outfits and strut their stuff around a stage like a piece of meat for a bunch of men? And don't think the pressure and all the other children and mothers aren't horrible to deal with. Why does a little girl need this? I think many Mothers do this for their own ego. I think it's terrible. Let children be children. They grow up far too fast as it is. Frankly the videos of these things make me sick. Reminds me of something that child molesters get off on. Yuck! You can't have any real ';talent'; much as a little kid, so then it's all based on your looks or the ability to have looks and have ';moves';. Pathetic. These are not the values we should be teaching little girls. Gee, all I have to do is play sexy and look cute and fix my hair and make up and wear the right clothes, have the moves and men will give me attention. Very very wrong.
Little kids need to be little kids. Why put them through the pressure of practicing and being proper? For a child, It's pretty devasting to go through so much and not come out the winner.
It is up to the child and only if they want to do it
    Ok, true story....

I live in a part of Canada where beauty pageants are not paid any attention to, but I can tell you about the experience of a little girl I know.

When she was six she told her mother that she wanted to try modeling. Her mother (who takes excellent care of her body and has posed for several posters, magazines, and newspapers) decided to let her try it. When the girl turned eight she told her mother she wanted to quit. Since her mother didn't want to encourage quitting, she asked her daughter why she wanted to stop modeling. Her response:

    ';None of the girls there care about their bodies, they just care about how they look.';

She learned a lot by observing people with bad habits. Now, if your niece wants to try pageantry, be sure to point out behaviour you find unacceptable, and don't let the grown ups who care for her get caught up in it. I don't think there's any harm in letting her try it so long as it's for her, and not for anyone else.

    Good luck.

    --Ginny
i think that peole should keep their chirdren 's beauty to thems selfs see what happebnned to jonbebet ramsey thats what i am talking about poor little girl

How come people overestimate their beauty when looking through mirror?

people say all the time they tend to look great in the mirror but when they see themselves in photographs they look kind of ugly. why is that? How come people overestimate their beauty when looking through mirror?
Well, I think the thing is that when your looking in the mirror you can move around and see other angles. Like, your not frozen in one position (if you know what I mean.

But with a photo its a picture so if at the moment that the person takes the picture you accidently move you face or something it can come out really weird!!! Or the person might just not be very photo genic!!!

If you try this you will probably understand more what I mean.

Go to a mirror and do lots of different faces, then get a camera and take pictures of you doing those faces and you will probably find that you thought you looked better in the mirror then you do in the photo!!!

This might not work but its worth a try!!!How come people overestimate their beauty when looking through mirror?
i cant really explain well, but photographs capture one moment, whereas mirrors show you while youre moving, so if you do anything that doesnt look attractive while looking in a mirror you're moving quickly enough not to really notice it.

but if they capture that moment in a photograph its obvious that you look funny.

hahaha bit of a rubbish explanation, i know what i mean but cant explain it very well :/
For everyone there own style and face cuts.... we cant say like that bcz in original he/she is beautiful but not in photos...... Only some people have the photogenic faces....... In photos they are not beautiful but in real beauty..................
We like things that we are being exposed to frequently. Since we see ourselves in mirrors more than in photographys (which add some distortion), we like ourselves in familiar mirrors more.
hi, i think they are overwhelmed when they look at the mirror or their face is not photogenic
    LOL

Good excuse, really. What can I say, blame the photographer. lol

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
because the mirror and photgraph switch left and right different.
Because some people just aren't photogenic.
    Not me.
archangel has is right, thats exactly what it is.
    that happens to me too

Why are breast implants allowed in beauty pageants?

In the controversy surrounding Miss California, it was recently revealed that she had breast implants. Does anyone else think this is wrong? If implants are allowed, aren't we just judging who had the best plastic surgeon? Please, someone give me a compelling reason why plastic surgery should be allowed in beauty pageants. Why are breast implants allowed in beauty pageants?
They are allowed for the same reasons they allow false eyelashes, wigs, body glitter, false nails, false teeth (for pre teens), botox injections, spray tanning. There is nothing real about beauty pageants. Why are breast implants allowed in beauty pageants?
I don't understand it. When I first saw Miss California, I could tell right away that she had gotten breast implants. She had the tell-tale gap down the middle of her chest plus I could see the outlines of the implants at the tops of her breasts. Breast implants just don't look natural and I'm not sure they should be allowed in beauty pageants since the women are supposed to be judged for having natural beauty, not plastic surgery enhancements.
I find it kind of splitting hairs to say that there is a contest that is superficial as it is based on how someone looks, then suddenly say, let's not have fake breasts to match the fake tan because that takes away the fairness. Look it's a contest on how someone looks and can answer questions they've drilled a million times. There isn't anything particularly real about it, except for when someone slips or says something stupid. If you're going to start making restrictions on plastic surgery, then why not do a beauty pageant that doesn't have makeup? Let's real it up. Maybe we can do a mix of American Gladiators/Miss America competition. At least then, I'd watch.
I think the real question should be: why are beauty pageants allowed? Put a nail in the coffin already - no one watches, no one cares, it's an incredibly sexist and demeaning institution that treats women like meat.

Why is anyone surprised Miss California had implants? Who on that stage didn't? That contest is all about who has the best surgeon, the best peroxide specialist, the best weight trainer, the best nutritionist...it's all money.

    They pour all of this money into turning young women into show ponies, and then are surprised when the women say stupid things like ';opposite marriage.';
Because breast size is very often correlated with sexual allure in humans, and our society very obviously draws a strong correlation between sexual allure and human beauty.

They're not called ';natural beauty contests,'; after all (imagine the state of modeling if bodily modifications were illegal - and remember that shaving is a bodily modification).
Dior is f*cking rude... don't answer if not relevant to u. Or go around and say that to 99 thousand answers u think the same about... dumb dumb.

    ok

It's a sad day to me that women have resorted to implants to ';feel'; confident. I'm gonna go get a super budge in my pants and start knocking things over when I walk around. Maybe I'll feel more like a man.

I love natural boobs. Small, large droopy tight. If I LOVE a women it doesn't matter.

Don't risk your health for fake attention and you are gonna attract the wrong kind of guy. That's like me flashing my bank account hoping to meet a great girl.
jeez..i'd bet the vast majority of pageanters have had booby implants..among OTHER plastic surgery procedures

my goddess..the whole concept of beauty pageants objectifies women..how the f**k are u surprised about any plastic surgery?

EDIT: damn rio..i see why you're a top contributor
They're not beauty pageants so much as conformity pageants. This is more evident in contests involving four- and five-year-olds, but it's the same. If you best match the prototypical ';pageant look,'; no matter how you accomplish it, you win.
They should be allowed, just because it would be pretty crummy to disqualify a woman who had had implants for a while.

Personally, I think the majority of implants look ridiculous. Like having two tupperware jellyfish on your chest... yikes.
Rio is right, these are pageants of conformity, not beauty. I don't care about them overly much, except to say that their definition of beauty appears to be a fairly narrow one
Beauty pageants are stupid anyway and is just another way for women to be literally judged. The contestants also can't be married or have any children. It's just dumb.
    Because plastic jugs are beeyootiful.
    Nobody would watch otherwise.
who cares? I find beauty pagents largely irrelevant
I don't care for beauty pageants so I don't really care what they do.
Because this is Amurrica, and that's what most men like, I suppose. It's almost irritating to me.
yer man good point i mean i wouldn't want any thing to be false or shallow in a beauty pegeant

When is the film 'A Great and Terrible Beauty' going to be finished and released?

I am reading the first book out of the Gemma Doyle Trilogy and i am really enjoying it and i have heard it is going to be adapted into a film. Does anyone know when it will be released and who they might be casting? When is the film 'A Great and Terrible Beauty' going to be finished and released?
So far, it's slated to be 2008, but I think it's going to be changed much later. They don't even have the cast for it yet. You can look it up on google, but it doesn't show much. Only shows 2008, and that the year is subject to change.

I am excited about the movie, but I'm hoping it doesn't butcher the book. When is the film 'A Great and Terrible Beauty' going to be finished and released?
No news on it yet...and its gonna take a long time to make. Hopefully it won't be too horrible. Or, if it is, that I don't get sent to jail when I stand up in the theater and start screaming and throwing shoes!

something about beauty is in the eye of the beholderHow do characters learn gender in Disney's Beauty and the Beast?
Women are in the kitchen making food and men are hunting. The way it should be.
it depends on how they interpret their role.

What constitutes beauty in your eyes?

Whatever form of beauty you want to examine (people, art, etc) is fine with me.What constitutes beauty in your eyes?
Kind eyes and interesting teeth !!What constitutes beauty in your eyes?
I think that beauty is something that has significance to another person. For example, a very old but kind woman with lots of children who she loves is more beautiful than a supermodel with no regard for other people. Conventional beauty isn't real beauty, it's just a fake image of what people say that people should look like, when in fact no one looks like that.
When we say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we are talking about metaphysical values. Generally, our species appreciates that beautiful sunset, a great play or movie, a job well done, heros, birth, and the ';eternal'; over the ';transient'; because of metaphysical value judgments we make.

Metaphysics, ';in the formation of a sense of life, [which has since come to be called a ';world view';] is the term “important.” It is a concept that belongs to the realm of values, since it implies an answer to the question: Important—to whom? Yet its meaning is different from that of moral values. “Important” does not necessarily mean “good.” It means “a quality, character or standing such as to entitle to attention or consideration” (The American College Dictionary).

';“Important”—in its essential meaning, as distinguished from its more limited and superficial uses—is a metaphysical term. It pertains to that aspect of metaphysics which serves as a bridge between metaphysics and ethics: to a fundamental view of man’s nature.

';Is the universe intelligible to man, or unintelligible and unknowable? Can man find happiness on earth, or is he doomed to frustration and despair? Does man have the power of choice, the power to choose his goals and to achieve them, the power to direct the course of his life—or is he the helpless plaything of forces beyond his control, which determine his fate? Is man, by nature, to be valued as good, or to be despised as evil?'; Ayn Rand, various sources http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/metaph…
Virtue and cleanliness. Example: A woman who does not fornicate or flaunt her body, and does not use make up, has no piercings, or tattoos.
anything that makes you feel happiness within your soul....so deep within you that it baffles you
    a good person
Can I just ask, what's with all the thumbs down?

I find a caring and kind nature to others beautiful.
