Less is more. Don't think that the more eyeliner you wear the older you look. The more you wear, the more it looks like you're TRYING to look older.
Change your makeup from day to night. Black eyeliner is too harsh to wear during the day. Sheer gloss is boring for the evening. Keep it natural during the day, glam it up when the sun goes down.
Don't fight your natural hair's texture. It's a waste of time. You will NOT win! If you have curls, define 'em. If you have waves, scrunch 'em. If your hair's stick straight, wear it proud. Don't be a slave to your flat iron. Everyone's hair is unique and lends an element of personality to your appearance that's yours alone. Learn to love what nature gave you. Use products and tools to enhance what you've got, not try to hide or fix what you don't. Trust me on this. Same can be said for trying to correct other ';flaws'; --covering freckles or using make up to contour your nose...Love yourself and recognize that those quirky little features you hate so much are the ones that make you uniquely beautiful.
Build your closet from a foundation of ';staples'; (classic, timeless pieces. things that don't go out of style in a matter of a couple weeks. premium denim, layering tees and tanks, button-downs, a pair of black pants, etc.), then incorporate trendy items in and out of rotation. You shouldn't need to buy a whole new wardrobe every season.
Develop a personal style that's all your own. Don't get too hung up on trends --they come and go. Pay attention to them, if fashion is an interest, but pick and choose the ones that you like, rather than following them all just because everyone else is.
People really do shine from the inside out. Don't neglect your mind and spirit for the sake of maintaining your outward appearance. Things like poor health or exhaustion or a bad attitude really do show through the exterior whether you wear nice clothes or do your makeup up. And smiling and being positive and uplifting can make the plainest jane beautiful in another's eyes. It's been said time and time again, but MUCH of beauty does come from within.
One more cliche: Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Do what makes YOU feel beautiful, because you will never be universally appealing to everyone around you. In that same vein, even if someone calls you ugly, just because one person thinks that doesn't mean that you're not attractive to anyone. What is your best beauty secrets that you can share with a girl desperate to improve everything?
highlights and a layered cut to start with. Try using a flat iron to make your hair look extra nice. Aussie shampoo is my favorite, also get their Leave in Conditioning Mousse, it makes your hair so soft. learn to use a curling iron if you dont already know how, and teach yourself to make cool styles like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-suI7U8GM鈥?/a> my favorite foundation is Alamay's Smart Makeup. Best mascara is Maybelline's Define-a-Lash. Try putting Wet n Wild's Shimmer Powders on your eyelids for a nice look, I like the peachy color they have. I like Loreal's Volumous Eyeliner for going out at night. Use Neutrogena porducts to wash your face every morning and night. (they're great!) apply daytime and night moisturizers. (Try Clean and Clear's SOFT moisturizers, they feel so nice on your skin. also treat it with masks and facials sometimes.
P.S. The in-colors for nails this fall is brown and pastels. What is your best beauty secrets that you can share with a girl desperate to improve everything?
